Amanda Hurst
AMANDA HURST—(ATTORNEY MEMBER) – Amanda Hurst is an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas School of Law. She teaches Legal Research and Writing in the first-year curriculum and advanced writing courses. She also serves as Co-Director of Student Competitions and co-coaches the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition team. She has served as an Arkansas Supreme Court Special Justice and on the State Board of Election Commissioners. She has published on the interaction between section 1983 and federal-state cooperative spending programs in the Tennessee Law Review. Prior to entering academia, Hurst clerked for Judge Bobby E. Shepherd of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University and the University of Arkansas School of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review and served as Research Editor. She and her husband, Joe, are lifelong Arkansans, and are raising their two children in their hometown of Van Buren where Joe serves as Mayor.
